end of an era

This impressive site is the defunct oil refinery wedged between the M4 freeway, the Parramatta and Duck Rivers and the Rose Hill Race Course in central western Sydney. At the time of writing, this former oil processing plant was in the throes of a long and slow demolition process. Witnessing the destruction of infrastructure of this scale elucidated both sadness and a sense of the finite. It was as though the hopes, dreams and endeavour of generations was being laid to ruin: a wish-fulfilment divested in futility.[1]
