Charting aeras

Wind… Air in motion… Invisible energy…
Charting AERAS is a drawing in three dimensions that takes its inspiration from weather maps, windmills and electromagnetic energy.

This work is intended to be viewed both in daylight and at night. The photo luminescent pigments glow in the darkness with an intensity that varies depending on the level of exposure to light. As the work is viewed, this exposure can be manipulated with UV and torchlight by drawing with light on the surface of the work. This intensity of luminescence fades over time, imbuing it with transient energy like the changeability of the air.

This work was commissioned for the NOX Night Sculpture Walk, a temporary bi-annual outdoor sculpture exhibition at Randwick Sustainability Park. Artists are invited to mentor and exhibit alongside students from UNSW Art & Design
